Review: Letters to Laura

Letters to Laura Letters to Laura by Wesley Rivers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Do not be discouraged by the length in which it has taken me to read it. I am catching up on my reads as I am not just an Author myself I am an Editor, so I don't have much time to do a lot of independent reading.

This is a wonderful story told by what seems at first a struggling woman coming to terms with her sexuality. Begins with the thought that maybe she is bisexual and falls in love with her roommate Laura and continues the story beautifully with this enchanting love story of letters and memories of their time together. Even the downfalls which were also enlightening since life isn't always ups and relationships do fall. This was a beautiful and well worthy read of 2016. Thank you for the read W.R x

Review: The Abandoned: Craig Carter Series

The Abandoned: Craig Carter Series The Abandoned: Craig Carter Series by Zoee Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Don't be discouraged by the length of time it took me to read this book. It wasn't at all like that. The story line flowed, and so did the characters.
I am an Author and Editor and hadn't had time to finish much of my reading list.
Now I am catching up!

All I can say is I'm looking forward to the second book.

This story was a little bit of a tear jerker. I felt a very strong emotional connection to Jenna as she told her story of her life without her best friend and love of her life Craig; taken away from her and his family and friends way too soon. Caught up in the criminal work of Drugs and Gangs. She's always loved Craig, but they never officialised as such. She takes you through a whirlwind of memories and present day struggles as they all try and move on with their lives without him. A new neighbour temps Jenna, and then quickly brought down to the hell that is the truth. How can love be so cruel and unjust?

Review: Shades of Sydney

Shades of Sydney Shades of Sydney by Brittney Coon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before I begin the length in which it took me to finish this has nothing to do with the reading or the sophistication of the book itself. I am an Author and an Editor, so I don't find much time with reading independently that much anymore.
Brittney's book here was utterly gripping. I loved the beginning of this series as I came into it late by reading the last one first. I enjoyed discovering how Sydney became the woman she is and how she was the girl struggling to fit in the beginning.
I loved how things began between her and Jason, the meeting, the games, the fact they both used their friends as excuses to see each other lol That boy has some patience that's all I can say lol
Sydney's partying was out of control, and her 'don't care' attitude, even her disrespect for herself was way too much for my liking, but I love how you watch her change. How you watch her mind change, her feelings and how she uses all that energy she put into her party lifestyle into her new.
I was on that emotional rollercoaster with her and rooted for her, and Jason's future like you wouldn't believe. I even found myself wanting to slap her lol

A must read, and I can't wait to get onto the second so I can conclude my overall enjoyment of the whole series. Sydney and her dystopian world.

This was a very heartfelt story of one woman's struggle for freedom. Trapped in a loveless, abusive marriage with no way out unless she's dead.
So that's what she's going to do.
Gaby is dead, and Riley has been born. No more will this tormented soul be a prisoner. No more will she suffer at the hands of another man, and she will go back to her love of Art and find herself.
Such a compelling and beautiful story Cristina has given us. One in which I have to add to as one of my top 10 of 2016 Must reads.

Our Life (Retitled Breaking Free) was one of the most accomplished pieces I've had the pleasure of editing. The story flows perfectly for Chloe and Kai to tell you their lives.
Chloe is what you'd call your 'poor little rich girl', and Kai is a Sexy Hero/Biker on his Metal Steed. He just cruised into her life on a whim; they'd never met before that night. However, their lives connected by the past of their parents, their lives being dictated too by her father. And a terrible past that almost winds them up dead.
When people say 'it's a small world' it really is.
Especially in Kai and Chloe's case lol

One of my top 10 of 2016 Must Read!

A great College story circling the two unlikely lovers, Louisa and Hunter.
Both from completely different worlds as Hunter is your everyday jock and Louisa is your smart, unique blonde who doesn't associate with a-holes.
Until the day she arrives at Newbrook U Campus, and she's endured the stereotypical jocks in Junior year. But Hunter Holland isn't that guy. Deep down he's sweet and caring but acts as though he's half a pence short of a pound and all about the sex because it's what he's supposed to resemble. Although, if you knew the real him you'd know how broken he is inside. How sad his family life is with his drunk ass father and his poor little brother who fends every day for himself and take care of his lowlife dad. And Louisa has lived a sheltered life where she is completely unaware of the dangers of the world, still a fresh and new in more than one way. Hunter has to have her, and she has to have him, all the while upsetting everyone in the process, including her sister Bree.

One of my top 10 of 2016 Must read!

The best Medieval fable I've read since David Eddings The Diamond Throne.
You got it all!
The fantasy of medieval times, in the rulings of a King and his knights, protection from his armies, neighbouring towns and old foes, the simple life in the country, Lovers in the woods, the massive Spider in the Cave... What! Yeah, and that's not all.
The EPIC BATTLES!!!
It was awesome to read, and it goes in my top 10 of 2016 MUST READS.

This story is very different from what I am used too. The storyline is a refreshing beginning to an incredible career as an Author.

Homecoming (Was Dance me out of danger) Is about a Singer, Dancer Vegas showgirl Willa McKenzie who's dragged back to her hometown Ferris to help take care of her very sick mom Lillian, who gave her her spirit and talent as a performer.
Willa has been away for far too long, and when she realises the strain, it has put on her sister she has no choice but to go home and help. However, when Willa get's home, her family aren't the only things waiting for her. In the darkness of Ferris are secrets and lies, ones that she'd hoped would stay buried forever. But unfortunately, that isn't the case. These secrets are the final nail in the coffin for the McKenzie family and all other's who are involved. Nonetheless, in all these bad tidings Willa finds love, strength and fight in the eyes of an old flame and love Grayson Malloy, who stops it nothing to keep her safe and in his arms.
A beautiful story of love, family and deceit. It is a must read and a highly recommended book.
