Let us start by finding out a little bit about you…
Well I’m a stay home mom of four kids. I love to read books about love and magic and then write my own!
I attached the book cover and a picture of Michelle Trachtenberg, who is the inspiration for Allison that I mention in the interview.
Thanks Ellie!

And we’re here today to talk about The Forgotten Ones.
Book Blurb:
Allison O'Malley just graduated from college. Her life's plan is to get a job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She doesn't have room for friends or even Ethan, who clearly wants more.

When Allison's long-lost father shows up, he claims he can bring her mother back from the dark place her mind has sent her. He reveals legends of a race of people long forgotten, the Tuatha de Danaan, along with the truth about why he abandoned her mother.

Your reviews on this is excellent, always ranging between 5 and 6 starts on Goodreads. Here are some for you to look at;

Amy rated it 4 of 5 stars
I was given this book to preview it as a beta--and I was thoroughly impressed. I enjoyed this read, and look forward to the next installment of the book. Maybe it'll go more into the background of the other world, Tir na N'Og, and how that world works. :) I was very much interested in more of that background...
Great first book, Laura! Look forward to more!

Stephannie Tolitsky rated it 4 of 5 stars
This is my first paranormal book. I'm really liking it so far.. Can't wait to read more..

It’s very difficult to give a review without giving anything away!!
Right so let’s get to the questions hun and find out all about it…
How would you describe your book?
The Forgotten Ones is a book based in old Irish mythology. Before Christianity came to Ireland, they prayed to the Old Gods. In TFO, the ‘old gods’ are still alive and well in the modern world.

What Genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping (if not already) to explore new ventures?
My love is paranormal romance. But, I have all sorts of stories floating around that I’d like to tell.

What inspired you to write 'your book (s)’?
The first seedling of an idea came from my best friend when I was a teenager. She was the girl every boy wanted to date and every girl either  wanted to be friends with or loathed with passionate jealousy. I wondered what that must be like, and if she even realized it.

Who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?
The easiest character was a side character named Niamh (pronounced Neve). She has a conceited, self-righteous personality. I understand why she is the way she is and what she’s hiding. The most difficult was her sister, Aoife (pronounced Ay-fa). She is my villain, and she reveals secrets at the most unexpected times, which makes it tricky to keep her character constant.

Are your characters based on real people? People you may know or TV/Movie stars?
Some of them definitely are. My main protagonist Allison started off being based on Michelle Trachtenberg. My cover model is a perfect fit for what I was looking for, and at least a handful of people have told me that she looks like Michelle, which I love.

Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in 'your book'?
The scene that I love the most is the most heart-breaking scene. I don’t know what that says about me as a person. :) Maybe it’s because it evokes such strong feelings in me, I’m not sure.

If 'your book (s)' had a theme song, what would it be and why?
The whole idea for the series began with the song Because of You by Kelly Clarkson. I could envision Allison feeling this way because of her broken-hearted mother and the role that has played in forming her personality.

Do you listen to music while you write your book (s)? If so ... what songs?
I can’t listen to music while I write, I need quiet. But listening BEFORE I write definitely puts me in the mood. I like a wide variety of songs for this story.  Because of You, Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler, Shattered by OAR, Black by Pearl Jam, It’s Not Over by Daughtry. Almost any music from the 90’s.

What’s up next for you?
I have the sequel for The Forgotten Ones outlined. I also have a New Adult contemporary romance brewing. It involves love, lies, and sexy text messages.

What inspired you to be a writer? Is there anything in particular that spurred you on?
I don’t know if it is any one event. I have a very active imagination which may be the result of being an extremely shy child. I had a teacher in 7th grade that loved the modern retelling I did of  Tom Sawyer, and that stuck with me.

What’s came first the chicken or the egg? Lol
The chicken. I don’t know why, it just did.

A little background into your writing: when did you start? What was your first piece? First published piece, tell us about your general history…
I’ve always been writing stories, I can’t pinpoint the start. I wrote Fan Fiction during my Twilight Craze, and no The Forgotten Ones is not based on it. :)

Do you have any favorite books or authors?
Many, many favorites. I love Diana Gabaldon, Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Juliet Marillier and every book they’ve written.

Are you working on anything else besides this?

Not at the moment, I’m in revision mode. But, I'll be diving into the sequel next.

  1. Sounds a marvelous read - can't wait to grab a sample for my kindle. I'm intrigued by the use of Irish mythology, the land of Tir na N'Og is one I'd love to visit:)

  2. The Irish Mythology scares me, strange names... but I will read this with great anticipation! I love that you listen to music before you write, I am the same way... music is still inspirational for me too. Can't wait to hear more about the sexy texting! See you soon, my friend!
