A little bit about Rick (Quoted from Bio)...
I like to write what I like to read...thriller/mystery/horror. I've read most authors in these genres, from Doyle to Grisham, from Poe to King and everyone in between. The story is what compels me to read and continue reading. That's my plan when I write and I continue to develop my abilities to give you the reader, the best possible story to entertain you.

The one bright spot in his gloomy existence is Kate - an equally naive barmaid. For different reasons, they plunge into marriage. Shattered when she leaves, he concocts a deadly plan to bring her back by using his only skill. The memory of his mother haunts the faces of each victim, until the last.

With that little detail there on Rick and his books, lets hear a little more about these in his own words.

Hey Rick! I have a few questions for you and I'll just fire away, if that's okay?
Yeah, yeah of course.

How would you describe your books?
My books are the kind of book that makes you think. It’s a tough description, but there’s no sense giving you any idea of what’s coming and expecting you to jump. I want to build up the suspense and then leave you with a different opinion about the story by using psychology.
I like your thinking haha!

Okay so what Genre is your work mainly?
Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping (if not already) to explore new ventures?
I’m only writing Mystery/Thriller/Horror at the moment, but who knows what might happen.

What inspired you to write your books?
I read some terrible books a few years ago and thought that if those people could get paid for writing then so could I.
Lol seriously! well that's a different perspective but a beautifully honest one, clear one at that! Thank you, Rick!

So who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?
None of my characters are easy to write, but I would have to say that Ray Jacobs in Reality Shift was the easiest because he’s me in many respects. The hardest was my version of Jack the Ripper in Jack, I Am. He had to hold true to the profile presented by the FBI and be as realistic as possible.
I can totally relate to you on your character Jacob as I too portrayed my main character; Awen, after myself. She is me in so many ways, young and as an adult and also she leads a life I myself didn't follow but would have thought was cool enough!
Jack The Ripper! Wow in-deed, my friend. Yes I can only imagine the difficulties you faced, I mean to project 'a day in the life' of Jack himself has to be tasking enough but to have to put yourself in his shoes, to mimic him must have been a difficult concept to grab. An interesting read if I can say so myself, one in which I'm intrigued to take a look at myself. Congrats ;)

Okay and are your characters based on real people? People you may know or TV/Movie stars? (You had mentioned about your character: Jacob, but I'll let you explain your concept...)
I try to have a picture of the character in mind while I write, but their characteristics are more a compilation of all the people I know. It keeps it real that way.

Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in your book?
A memory that Jack has about when he was a child and he’s being abused by his mother.
If your book(s) had a theme song, what would it be and why?
I don’t know, but I did wonder about that as I was writing them. The song would have to be both uplifting and dark at the same time...maybe.

Do you listen to music while you write your book(s)? If so ... what songs?
I’m an old fart so anything from the 50’s to the 80’s usually puts me in the mood.

Me too!! I love oldies and rock 'n' roll, 50's to late 70's. My parents killed me growing up on it lol

What’s up next for you?
I’m working on another thriller that I think might work for the younger readers. It combines all my favorite themes - space and strange creatures. That’s not to say the book will be anything like Aliens, but it will have aliens in it. There will also be a creature that everyone has heard about but there’s a twist. Sorry, but if I tell you anything else at this time you’d create pictures in your mind that wouldn’t be right.
What inspired you to be a writer? Is there anything in particular that spurred you on?
Once I got started I realized there was as much fun creating the book as reading it. I’ve always been an avid reader and writing gives me the opportunity to live in worlds and meet characters that haven’t existed before. Then I get to share them with other people all over the world. I’m not perfect, but I am perfecting my skills so hopefully, I’ll have a best seller someday, but I’m happy for now just being noticed.

What’s came first the chicken or the egg? Lol
Actually, the only correct answer to that question is the rooster.
I love the answers I'm getting on this question, thank you Rick for your response ;)

A little background into your writing: when did you start? What was your first piece? First published piece, tell us about your general history…
I wrote Reality Shift under a different title over twenty years ago, but it never got published. Then I decided to research and write Jack, I Am about six years ago. It took four years to finish the first draft and sixteen rewrites. That was the first book published through Smashwords. Once it was up and running, I edited and published Reality Shift.

Do you have any favorite books or authors?
I don’t have favorite books, but authors I enjoy reading are; Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, oh a whole bunch I can’t think of at the moment. Anybody who can write a good mystery will quickly become a favorite author to me.
Are you working on anything else besides this?
I’m also working on a mystery about a woman who loses her child in a snow storm...at least she thinks she does. Also, I’ve started on a police procedural set in Los Angeles where the killer is using a very unique method and the gangs are getting the blame. Both of these are about half way through the first draft. I started another one today about a set of eye glasses that enable the wearer to see evil. Unless one of your readers has seen that story somewhere else.

Here could you give us a few words to people who haven’t yet read your book (s), sell your work ;)
Jack, I Am is the realistic story of Jack the Ripper. He’s an outwardly normal man living in the East End of 1888 London. Although he’s had a tough life, he doesn’t use it as a crutch but he does have hopes and desires that need to be filled. John is his name and his job is fish filleter and he’s very good with his knife. One night at a pub, he meets the woman of his dreams and they are soon married but it doesn’t last. John has a problem and she can’t deal with it. She leaves him to live a life of her own that she never dreamed of with money and all the sex she could want. This is his trigger she left him and he wants her back and uses his skill with a knife in an attempt to scare her back to his arms. The women he kills remind him of his mother and it’s her he kills each time.

Reality Shift is the story of Ray Jacobs his fiancé Faith, his best friend Benny and the town Doctor and the Sheriff in Carter, Nebraska. A nightmare creature - a shape shifter from the woods near town has awakened and now it’s feeding on people. They have no real training or any obvious reason for fighting against this threat, but stay to defend their town. Carter is all they know and all they have. Ray and Faith have decided to leave town when the killing spree starts. Soon they and a handful of friends are the only people standing between the creatures and the annihilation of the state and maybe the country. They’re lines of communication are cut off and visions are wreaking havoc with their minds - is it real or are they dreaming? The line between reality and the dream state is very thin and fragile. When you can’t tell the difference you are in a REALITY SHIFT.
