Welcome Shiralyn J. Lee to ‘Author 2 Author’ Blog Interview.

Thank you for stopping by, please make yourself at home and we’ll begin.

A little bit about Shiralyn (quoted from page)…
I love to write erotica; romance; comedy; seduction and supernatural. It has taken me 3 years to kick my ass into gear to finally write my thoughts down and now I am thankful that I did. Gaelick.com are currently writing a review of Loving the Pink Kiss; so lets see shall we.

And the book we’re talking about today is The Dark Cully’s Mistress

Okay cool, so lets talk about that now hun, with these standard questions provided:
How would you describe your book?
A Victorian romance, with a twist of murder and an air of mystery. All of this and a love story too.
What Genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping (if not already) to explore new ventures?
All of my work is in the lesbian genre. Some of it is light erotic comedy, whereas other work that I have done is aimed toward the darker, more explicit world.
What inspired you to write your books?
This book was dying to be written. I came across the words, Dark Cully, and researched just exactly what that entailed. I was so excited about using this as my title but being as it was drawn to the male, female, culture I had to find an avenue to use it. Annie Smith was born right before my eyes.
Who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?
The easiest character to write was Annie. She is a breath of fresh air with her common chit chat way of narrating the story, and I just loved the old Victorian cockney slang she uses. The hardest character to write, Violet. She plays a major role in this story but I can’t explain without giving it away. Yes I know what a cop out, but, and a big but, you will appreciate why I have kept her a little close to my heart when you read the story.
Are your characters based on real people? People you may know or TV/Movie stars?
No I haven’t used anyone from my personal life or from T.V. Annie Smith and all of the other characters in this book were created right from my imagination.
Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in your book?
The final chapters. If you check out the reviews for this book you’ll see mentioned several times about how the story becomes filled with plot twist that they all thought they had it figured out who dunnit, but not one person yet has.
If your book had a theme song, what would it be and why?
Roll out the Barrel. An old London song ;)
Do you listen to music while you write your book (s)?
If so ... what songs?
I tried that once. No I shan’t do it again. There are too many distractions and I need to feel as though I am actually in the time zone.
What’s up next for you?
I am currently working on, Ruby Tipped Globes. What a title I hear you ask. Again, this is an old cockney slang and it actually means (breasts) Being a lesbian story, I have brought to life, Ellie Crimple, aka, Ruby Tipped Globes. She was aptly named this by her mentor, Robert Black, a highwayman. She too becomes a highway woman :)
What inspired you to be a writer? Is there anything in particular that spurred you on?
I watched The L Word, G Spot, and many other programs in that genre. All of them finished and I was left feeling cheated by the T,V networks. My wife, Janice, bless her, got fed up with me ranting about the lack of such programs that she challenged me to write my own story. So I did. I now have 14 books written.
What’s came first the chicken or the egg? Lol
Depends if you like Cadbury’s or KFC, LOL. Bet ya didn’t expect that answer ;)
Lol! I love it :)

A little background into your writing: when did you start?
What was your first piece?
First published piece, tell us about your general history…
So I began writing about 4 years ago now. That makes it 2009. My first book was based on my real life and I turned it into a fictional comedy. It’s about an illegal immigration scam. Just to let you know, I am legal :)
I have written, Loving the Pink Kiss, Pink Crush, The Submissive Scullery Maid and many, many more books. Each one is different from the last.
Do you have any favorite books or authors?
I love, Pat Califia, Sophie Kinsella, and Sarah Waters. Each one of them have been an inspiration to me. Gawd, what a mixed bag that is.
Are you working on anything else besides this?
Yes, as I mentioned I am working on Ruby Tipped Globes. This one is a cheeky little beggar.
Could you give us a few words to people who haven’t yet read your book, sell your work ;)
I write lesbian. I have a varied range of books in the sense that some are very explicit, some are romantic and some are O.M.G! But you don’t have to be a lesbian to read my romantic ones. Yes there is hot totty bits included but the storylines are great. It would be a shame to miss out just because of the word, lesbian.
But for anyone who hasn’t read my work then, The Dark Cully’s Mistress would be a perfect start. Annie Smith is a character who will win your heart in an instant. Literally! Read the excerpt, I’m sure you’ll agree ;)
Lol love is love and romance is romance right ;)

Here it is again...
And the book blurb;
Do not let the title fool you on this one, this is all lesbian and a hot read in more ways than one.
This is a lesbian love story based on the life of Annie Smith, a prostitute living in the Covent Garden area in the mid 1800's. The area was rife with prostitution during this era and held no exception to Annie's plight. Forced by her mother to work in this trade she is determined to find a way out of this life at any cost. When she meets a married man quite by sheer accident she is offered an unusual way to leave this sordid existence behind her.
Annie is extremely grateful for her new found role in life and for a while she accepts this to be the right choice. But soon her life will change again when she meets her Dark Cully's wife, Mrs. Rose Rotherham, a fine and beautiful woman who happens to be high up in the social circle of London. Annie is besotted with her and has to find a way into her life and when she manages to find that avenue there is literally, hell to pay.
