Author 2 Author Welcomes ERP!!!

Welcome ER Pierce ‘Author 2 Author’ Blog Chat.
Thanks so much for stopping by, please make yourself at home and we’ll begin.

So, you want to know about me? What can I tell you… This will be a continuing post…
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I write my first story when I was in seventh grade-A first person account of an entire summer. I went through a massive teen angst poetry phase, and I have notebooks and binders filled with prose.
Over a year ago, Ceithin and Aurelia showed up in my head. Hey yapped incessantly, demanding I sit and tell their story. After a month or two of being woken up with harsh whispers, I started writing. They havent stopped, and in fact, brought friends. Now my head is filled with stories, scenes, snippets and crazy people.

Lol I know how you feel on that subject, I thought I was going nuts!

New Book
Duality (Cordelia Kelly #1)
Cordelia Kelly is a dual-natured empath walking a fine line between good and evil. Can she balance her two sides and become the woman she was meant to be?
Coming late fall 2012. (November/December)
Paranormal (Darker) Urban Fantasy.
Novella length.

Cordelia Kelly is the heroine in my new series about empaths. She harbors many secrets and is dual-natured. She struggles with her good and her bad side, I guess you could also call it her and naïve side and so on and so forth.
Cordelia is amazing to write. She is powerful in her emotions and she exudes a level of frenetic excitement in me as an author. Cordelia meets Sol in a bar in the opening chapter.Sol is one of the heroes in this series, and I simply adore him. Sol and Cordelia have an immediate connection, both being empths and feeling isolated and lonely. But Cordelia struggles with who she is and accepting who she is. She is adept at hiding her true feelings and repressing her baser self, a skill she learned at a very young age. Sol tried to help her find comfort though he has secrets of his own. Secrets that just might get Cordelia killed.
One night Cordelia does something horrible (Or is it?) and the aftermath sets many new things motion. Will she heal and accept both her light and dark sides? Will her and Sol have a relationship? What happens when she cries? Who killed her grandmother and why? Who is the woman with cherry red lips that challenges Cordelia in a fight?

Tell us a bit about yourself?
I'm a mom to four children under nine and I've been married for over ten years to an awesome man. I started writing when I was in 6th grade and I've never stopped. In 2011 I started writing my first book, and since I've published six stories.
How would you describe your book?
My newest novel is called 'Duality' and is about Cordelia Kelly. She's an empath and has two sides of herself – the light, and the dark. Duality is about her struggle to put herself back together.
What Genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or are you hoping (if not already) to explore new ventures?
Duality is a darker Urban Fantasy. I genre hop. I write in Contemporary romance, paranormal, a bit of horror and erotic fiction.
Share with us a quote from one of your favourite characters…
"What color are your panties?"
Is it hard to come up with new ideas and/or plots?
Sometimes fleshing out a plot can be tricky. Other times plotlines hit me in the face with a rake.
How long does it take you to complete a finished book?
All my books have varied in timeframe. Eating Out was written in a few short hours, whereas Fractured Moon and Duality have taken six months to write.
What inspired you to write your book?
The people in my head who won't shut up unless I write down what they share. They are incessant and demanding.
Who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?
The easiest for me has been writing Samantha from my Hot Lunch Series. She's layered, yet she doesn't have the complexity of Cordelia (Duality) and Aurelia (Fractured Moon). The males of my story, the easiest was Jett from Finding Time.
Are your characters based on real people? People you may know or TV/Movie stars?
Insipiration comes from everywhere. Sometimes I'll sit at my keyboard pounding away and then I'll re-read what I've written and be like "Fuck, where did that come from?"
Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in your book?
In Duality I love when Cordelia finds her inner power and unleashes her potential on her enemies.
If your book had a theme song, what would it be and why?
Cordelia's theme song is "Hurricane" by MSMR.
Do you listen to music while you write your book, if so ... what songs?
No, I don't listen to music while I'm actively writing. I listen to white noise (my box fan is always running)
What’s up next for you?
I'm taking a much needed break after I finsish Table for Two (Hot Lunch #3) and Duality is published. Summer will be here soon and all my kids will be home making it impossible to focus and write during the day.
What’s came first the chicken or the egg? Lol
Ah, the age old question. Today I'm going to say that The chicken came first :P
Do you have any favorite books or authors?
J.D Robb (Nora Roberts) and Ilona Andrews are my two favorite authors. I have a myriad of others whom I adore and love as well.
Here could you give us a few words to people who haven’t yet read your book.
Sell your work ;)
I try and write stories that my readers will feel. Every day I grow as an author and writer. I strive to hone my words with extreme precision but I'll always be a 'pantster". I write as scenes unfold in my mind. I've tried plotting but I'm not very good at following the 'rules'.
