A little about K R Morrison (self-proclaim)…
Author
of paranormal suspense/horror novel "Be Not Afraid", currently
prepping prequel ("UnHoly Trinity") and sequel ("Resurgence: The
Rise of Judas") for publishing. The first is available now at Amazon,
Barnes & Noble, and Powells--hardback, softcover, and e-book.
And this is the book (Be
Not Afraid) Kathy has chosen to share with us today.

Okay hun, lets go on then...
How would you describe your book?
Scarier than hell, at least that’s what I’m told.
What Genre is your work mainly? Do you tend to stay in the same vein or
are you hoping (if not already) to explore new ventures?
They are mainly paranormal suspense-horror, but with a Christian twist to them. I have one more book in this series (that I know of—you know how characters tend to take over). There are other books in my mental line-up that have nothing to do with horror. I don’t know when those will happen, though.
What inspired you to write your book?
Man, this does not come easier with the telling. I still want to hide under the desk when I relate it. “Be Not Afraid” is the first book; it was spawned by a nightmare I had of being attacked by a vampire. The sensations my protagonist, Lydia, experiences were the same I felt in my dream. It was that real. The story continued in my waking hours, cycling over and over, growing ever bigger with each cycle. Finally, I wrote it down and was relieved of the obsession.
Who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?
Easiest characters were the minor ones. The only real problem was getting them to have a reason for being in the story in the first place. Hardest were the baddies—especially Vlad in the first book, and Lilith in the first and third ones. It horrified me to write their actions and their atrocities.
Are your characters based on real people? People you may know or
TV/Movie stars?
No, can’t say they were.
Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in
your book?
UnHoly Trinity: the scene where Judas hangs himself—or at least thinks he does. It appears to be so, anyway… Be Not Afraid: where Lydia’s daughter Trudy, a freshly-turned vampire, rushes out of her house and attacks a young man on the street—who just happens to be Jesus… Resurgence: The Rise of Judas: the storm-lashed scene in the parking lot—where Judas makes his last stand.
If your book had a theme song, what would it be and why?
“Be Not Afraid” was named after the Christian hymn of the same name.
Do you listen to music while you write your book, if so ... what songs?
No—noise of any kind is a distraction. Anything I do—quilting, gardening, whatever—I do without sound accompaniment.
What’s up next for you?
Right now I am getting my new books ready to be e-pubbed. A wonderful guy, Rick Carufel, has formatted the manuscripts, and we are just waiting for the cover illustrations to be finalized. I am also looking for an indie publisher so I can get paperbooks also.
What inspired you to be a writer? Is there anything in particular that
spurred you on?
People have always told me I write well. But this authoring stuff was a sheer surprise. I didn’t think I would ever do this—until that nightmare and its effects.
What came first the chicken or the egg? lol
Easter bunny
A little background into your writing: when did you start?
What was
your first piece?
First published piece, tell us about your general history…
I’ve always written the yearly Christmas letter, and writing classes were my favorites in school. “Be Not Afraid” is my first published book. General history: hmmm…one husband (27 years), two kids, aged 23 and 21, one humongous cat. Lived 30 years in California, the rest in Oregon. I do a lot of walking, am an avid gardener, and a rabid quilter.
Do you have any favorite books or authors?
I have a LOT of favorite authors. Right now, I am reading Jasper Fforde’s latest book, and when I get the chance I will re-read Terry Pratchett’s entire “Discworld” series.
Are you working on anything else besides this?
I will soon be starting the fourth book in the series, “Enoch’s Return”. It will further explain how Toby, two years old, was able to call down fire from heaven to destroy a vampiric demon in “Resurgence”.
Could you give us a few words to people who haven’t yet read your
book (s).
Sell your work ;)
I have had nothing but good reviews for my books, both in Amazon and in other pages. Even those readers with non-Christian points of view have enjoyed “Be Not Afraid”, because the Christian aspect of it is not “in-your-face”, so to speak. And even though the other two aren’t out at this writing (by the way, “UnHoly Trinity” is the prequel to “Be Not Afraid”, while “Resurgence” is the sequel), my beta readers are giving me some very positive feedback. I have posted excerpts from “UnHoly Trinity” on my blog, so go take a look and get hooked!!

Awesome! And here is Be Not Afraid Book Blurb; War is imminent.
Evil has overtaken the world, although the world does not know it. God must
intervene on the behalf of those who love Him, and a war is brewing that will
decide supremacy.
God’s plan unfolds, and His subjects must retain their faith in the midst of every evil the Father of Lies can throw at them. Lydia, because of her strong faith, is particularly seized upon by Vlad, a demonic vampire. He brings her to the brink of despair, unknowingly causing her to cling even harder to her Lord and Savior. When she is miraculously saved, Vlad finds and then harasses her friends and family, unaware of the angels and saints who are on the brink of attack against him and his minions.
The faithful are tested to the ends of their abilities. Will they be able to stand fast against the power of Death, remembering that God is with them? Or will the Father of Lies rise triumphant?
